For schools and coaches
How we work with a school or team
We work for the student and the family. The school and the team decide what they can put in place.
- 01
Step 1: The family asks us to share
A parent or guardian signs a written permission, and says who at school or on the team may hear from us.
- 02
Step 2: We send a short summary
A page on what the student can do, what to ease off and what to watch for. It holds no diagnosis or test results.
- 03
Step 3: We stay in touch
A nurse, teacher or athletic trainer can call us with a question, and the plan changes as the student does.
Who decides what
Each of us has a part
A return takes the student's doctor, the school and the therapist. This is who does what.

What helps us help you
A name to call
A nurse, athletic trainer or counselor who can take a call.
The schedule
Class hours, practice times and the next game.
Your return-to-play policy
So our steps line up with it.
Coaches and athletic trainers
A call before practice starts again
We would rather talk with the athletic trainer or coach before a student returns to practice than after. A short call covers what to watch for and what to do if symptoms come back.

- Chest pain, trouble breathing, a sudden severe headache or pain, new weakness or numbness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or a fall with a head injury needs emergency care now. Call 911.
